I began reading Connie Johnson’s book a while ago, planning to read it in one sitting like  I usually would.  Planning it that way was doing her tremendous amount of work a disservice.  Reading her book is like taking a journey yourself as you read about how better to prepare yourself for your lifelong journeys.  Connie does an amazing job of breaking down so many aspects of New Age philosophy while maintaining the continuity of her message – that of providing as many tools as she can for others to gain self awareness and insight and create a more positive life for themselves and those around them.  Thus, trying to just sit down and read her book like any other book defeats the purpose, in my opinion.

Connie begins with explaining basic principles, like Universal Law and how it is prevalent, if sometimes warped, in our modern world as well as throughout human history.  She goes on to describe how reincarnation and vibrations not only play a role in New Age thought but are quite frankly the basis for many New Age philosophers’ viewpoints.  She explains in detail what these elements of our lives really mean and how they affect every aspect of every decision made.  She discusses how emotions and thoughts tie together and then begins listing and explaining the many different facets available to differentiate and clarify both.

Throughout the book, Connie touches back to how modern science describes the same principles in scientific terms.  She utilizes her history as a social worker and the many experiences this life has provided her to give an empathetic touch to her explanations and descriptions so the book doesn’t read like a textbook.  I could argue that it probably includes more information than most of my college textbooks, but it is obvious from page to page that it is her passion to share with others.  Her book leads down a path and whether or not you agree with her viewpoint, there is much to be learned and gained from reading this masterpiece.

I must admit I was a little skeptical at first, going to my first burlesque show.  I’ve seen burlesque movies and well, wasn’t super interested.  After talking with MsPixy at Wizard World though, I thought I should give it a shot.  The way she described the shows they’ve done, I became intrigued. Thank goodness I [...]

I started thinking about writing this editorial because of a recent slew of articles, editorials, and twitter arguments involving what a geek is and what a geek isn’t.  As a self proclaimed geeky girl and definitely a supporter of geek/nerd culture, I feel the need to weigh in on the subject. First of all, I’m going [...]

When you walk through Comic Con, you can be amazed at the  fascinating characters to be seen, both on paper and in person. The artistry of  people’s creations is enthralling and transforms mere booths with paper or old  boxed toys into a wonderland of awesomeness for the fanboy/girl in all of us. What is rarely [...]
