Sorry I usually save the bad puns for Brian and Chris but this movie was not
disappointing though I have to preface this with the fact that though I loved
the character of John Constantine when he first appeared in swamp thing that I
did not continue reading when he got his own books. So I had only a few
preconceived notions of the character and did not run out of the theater
screaming when he pulled out the holy shotgun like some die-hard fans.
After the nightmare that was the second and third Matrix movies (as well as lingering memories of Johnny Mnemonic) I
had serious doubts about Keanu Reeves pulling the character off but those were soon quieted. He was sardonic and tragic as only a man who knows he is doomed to hell can be. Rachel Weisz in the dual role of Isabel /Angela was very good
as well she managed to convey a person out of their depth but refusing to give up. The special effects were cool but did not overshadow the movie and while I did see a lot of things coming in the movie it was still worth the end scene. Also if you go see the movie wait till the credits roll because there is still a little more to be seen
