An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made, in a narrow field!

Niels
Bohr (1885-1962)

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Ralph Waldo Emerson
I began writing Pandora’s Gate there were people who questioned my credentials to be writing Breaking in articles let alone editing and producing a whole magazine on my own (hell there are probably still people who do that) but I was not starting from scratch I had been a manager, I wrote hearing appeals at my job every day and I had attended the Chicago Comicon for
the last eight years.

I had picked up a lot of info on the nuts and bolts of the business but I also realized that each year I picked up less
and less and the little pieces I was getting to fill in the gaps weren’t always coming from the people who had been in the business for decades. I learned what books to get and I learned how to learn.

Many of us don’t want to start writing till we have something to say. Everyone feels they should be an expert before
opening their mouth but most of what I have picked up has been when I decided I was going to write an article on a subject that I knew absolutely nothing about.

Fifty percent of what it takes to get a comic book up or game project up and running can be taught in about an hour the
other half can take a person a lifetime. So waiting till you know everything means you will never write anything .Open your mouth, write your opinion the worst that can happen is that someone will correct you. Then you can write it better. You never write a good page until you get the first 1000 pages of junk in print so the sooner you start the sooner you can join the ranks of the great
published writers.
