Well, this was interesting. Thief of Thieves is something unique. It’s not developed like a regular comic book in the creator owned arena. This is to my knowledge the first book like this, where it wasn’t a tv show first, or an established property.
Created by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, and The Infinite), Kirkman brought his “Walking Dead” tv writing to this book, creating the idea and plotting the series with a group of writers. So Kirkman didn’t write the first issue, he created the series and handed it off to a writer, who helped co plot the book.
The book was really good. I dug that it was in a wide-screen format like a Mark Millar book. It had a cinematic feel to it and the story follows a man named Redmond, a master thief and his apprentice Cecilia. Kirkman is known for making characters feel alive, and I honestly think that he had more to do with this book other than just creating it. I think he did some uncredited re writes on it.
Over all this is a solid title. The book did sell out of issue one, so a second printing is on the way, if you missed it the first time.
