I have finished a novella where we meet Toni and Ben. Toni and Ben are emergency room nurses that have just met. They work on the night shift and it is Ben’s first night at the emergency room. So of course we are preparing for a romance but the night nurses are vying for Ben’s attention. Throughout their shift Toni tries to learn more about Ben but is unable to figure out what his presence is doing to her. She is faint, embarrassed and confused. We also find out that Ben is a hero. Toni does not recognize him while others in the hospital did. He saved a bus full of children in a different city.
Over a short period of time Ben and Toni get very close but when Toni figures out what Ben is, she must decide what she is going to do. Ultimately Ben and Toni go to see a friend of Toni’s for help and find a friend of Ben’s as well. They still have to figure out their life together or apart since one of the friends betrays them.
This story was well written and made for a good novella. The theme is a little overdone since it involves vampires. Our author has brought in some greek mythology to spice it up a little. For those readers that like vampires and fantasy but want a short read this is a good book. If you do not want to read a romance then you may want to pass on this one. The romance is not the main focus of the book but there are many chapters that include romantic details or scenes. It will be interesting to see where our characters are in the next book of the series.
