One of the great things about pop culture conventions is that there are sizes and flavors for every fan. This was demonstrated to me clear during the month of April we took in C2E2 in Chicago and saw a sprawling convention with lots of publishers and tons of vendors hawking everything under the sun and then the following weekend we got to hang out at Animie Saint Louis a more niche, intimate event.
Animie Saint Louis does not try to be the next Comicon but it was a great experience, there were miles and miles of cool people in great costumes, a chance to check out some Animie I had not seen before and a group of really talented people in artist alley. The smaller scale of the event also made it possible to have a more one on one experience with the professionals attending the event like Steve Argyle who did a really entertaining question and answer section on techniques and the art industry.
All in all it was a great event to attend and I am already putting it down on the calendar to attend next year.
