- American Arts-Experience- St. Louis (AAE) invites area artists to enter the festival’s first design competition. Artists are welcome to submit their concept(s) for a festival poster to commemorate the two week arts event, which occurs at cultural locations throughout the metroSt. Louisarea from October 5- 21, 2012.
The winning artist will be awarded $1,500. (includes all time and materials) Final artwork must be completed and submitted electronically by July 15, 2012.
The American Arts Experience -St. Louisis an annual festival each October celebrating all mediums of American arts. For 17 days and nights, AAE will fill concert halls, museums, theaters, universities and outdoor spaces in theSt Louisarea with dozens of performances and shows by renowned American artists and companies in disciplines ranging from symphonic music to jazz and singer-songwriters, theater by American playwrights and dance by American companies to major American visual artists.
The winning poster will be sold at various arts venues inSt. Louis, displayed on the AAE website and printed on other promotional items. Directors of majorSt. Louiscultural institutions and other arts-related individuals will judge submissions.
The artist should become familiar with the AAE mission and performance calendar in order to design a poster that captures the spirit of this year’s festival.
Posters must fit the dimensions of 28” H X 22” W and include: the dates of this year’s festival (Oct 5 -21), and the festival logo. The poster should reflect the theme of American arts. Final designs must be in submitted in formats for print and web applications.
Preference will be given to artists who live in theSt. Louismetro area. Artist must agree to give AAE the rights to the artwork for any promotional purposes.
