The cover to Jurassic Strike Force 5 #2

Jurassic Strike Force 5 continues to prove its worth as it moves into its second issue. The foreshadowing done by the zero issue and the first issue pays off here as we see the first battle in the war that will inevitably come from these two opposing sides.

This issue is essentially a battle issue. The main conflict that occurs is from the strike force and the evil alien emperor with his strike force. The good strike force goes, and invades the alien’s arctic base they have taken over from the army. A battle ensues, and the good strike force is found in a tough position. What is interesting here is the dynamics between the characters. They call each other “brothers,” and it is an interesting dynamic. There is not much explored there, and unfortunately, the issue focuses way too much on the action. This issue seems to be more plot-focused than character focused which is unfortunate.

Joe Brusha and Neo Edmund deliver an average issue. It falls short of the two preceding issues. The art continues to wow me. JL Giles-Rivera seems to be having a hell of a time drawing this comic still. His continued love really shows. The writers have a handle on what they want to tell but they need to drive it more around their actions than the needs for the story’s plot.
