Interview questions:
How did you get your start in music?
Nÿx: I always had a deep love for music at a very young age. Music is one thing
I truly enjoy. It's a great way to express myself. I took piano lessons for 4
years starting at age 9. I was always told I had a good singing voice, but it was
Khâos that pushed me into putting a voice to his music. I then began learning
different types of singing to express my different emotions.
Khâos: I started playing guitar at age 16 and began playing in cover bands at
age 18. I was inspired to start playing music after hearing bands such as Kiss
and Black Sabbath.
who are your biggest musical influences:
Nÿx: Khâos from Raven X has got to be my biggest influence in music. Not only
for his ability on guitar, but he has amazing ability to hear and create music
too. He is also the one who really got me to believe in myself to sing and
create. Without him pushing me there would be no Nÿx. For singing I look up to
Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy. Her energy is powerful and intense. Others are
Karyn Crisis(her versatility is amazing), Bjork(for all reasons!), Anneke van
Giersbergen(beautiful singing voice), Ihsahn(pure talent) and a new influence is
Jared Leto of 30 Seconds To Mars. I really think he has a great voice and great
versatility. And many more, too many to mention.
Khâos: I am influenced by all types of bands and styles of music, but I would say
Ihsahn (Emperor,Peccatum) and Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree,Blackfield) are two
of my biggest influences at this time. Also, bands such as Pink Floyd, Led
Zeppelin and Black Sabbath have always been an influence on me.
What is your biggest inspiration when creating music?
Nÿx: My own emotions. If I can't feel it, I can't create it…or perform it for
that matter.
Khâos: When creating music, I am inspired by the sound in my head. The work is
to make that sound able to be heard by others.
Could you give us the details of your current project.
Khâos:Right now, we are trying to finish the recording of our debut CD and get
it released around the beginning of next year. The recording process is taking
quite a while because we are performing and recording all of the music
ourselves.
What is the next goal you would like to achieve with your
music?
Khâos: Our next goal is to get our CD finished and released and then we will
start to look for a drummer and bassist to complete the live line-up of Raven X.
final four
When the zombies take over the world where will you be?
Nÿx: Raven X will be performing for a zombie mosh party.
Khâos: I will probably be organizing an elite army of zombies to take over and
control the rebel zombies. When I have control of all zombies,I will then rule
the world!
Jedi, Ninja, vampire, were-wolf, pirate, fairy or Spartan?
Nÿx: Vampire
Khâos: Vampire, for sure. We were vampire before it was en vogue.
What one piece of art, be it music, book, film or picture,
do you think people must experience before they die?
Nÿx: Ihsahn's "The Adversary" This CD is powerful from beginning to end. I love
every song.
Khâos: Without a doubt, the album "The Adversary" by Ihsahn
Give one fact that most people would not believe about
you?
Nÿx: I am a big Johnny Cash fan.
Khâos: I was the starting Quarterback on my high school football team.
