Cirkus

So there is nothing I like better then getting turned on to a new film or sound that I have never heard before. It’s rare that you get to check something out without a bunch of preconceived notions from what came before. So when I got directed to listen to Cirkus I was quietly hopeful. And I did not get disappointed.
The band has got good licks with lyrics that have meaning and resonance on Everlong lasting but they aren’t afraid just to rock on tracks like deceiver.
They were kind enough to share a few moments of their time to talk about their music and the future of the band.

So how did the band get started and what made you pick Cirkus as the name?

RIC: Well, A drinkin' fellowship. We met and started jammin' together.
In the start some people had to go in order for the band to grow then new blood took their place`s and pumped more gasoline into the fire.
Inspiring guitar licks mixed with Roux'ds dirty words and great melody lines is what caught my attention for the first time
When I walked into the CIRKUS tent and decided to take over the drumming task of carrying this band.
About the name CIRKUS, it's not just a name, not a choice, just the way we are as people and our lifestyle.
With us every damn day is a CIRKUS show ..

What bands did you guys draw inspiration from growing up and starting in music?

RIC: The thing that makes CIRKUS special is that all the members have so many different perspectives on music.
I see you guys took a tour California, what was the high point and is there any difference between crowds in Europe and America?

RIC: yeah, the touring in California has without a doubt taken us to another level and has helped us to grow.
The crowd`s responses in Europe is not that much different to US but if we're talking the little mellow country of Sweden it's a another thing.
Here people don't let loose unless everybody else does the same. Or with a lot of alcohol in your veins of course.

When you guys are writing the songs is it a group endeavor or do you each work out your ideas and bring them to group?

RIC: It's different from time to time but mostly one of us has chord structure, melody or a beat to that we all decide to try out and then we throw it against the wall and see if it sticks or slides down like cheap wallpaper.

What was the worst job you guys had before you could make a living playing music?

RIC: Can we say all? None of us has had that much of time on earth to try out that many different jobs so unemployed must be the worst, And also to find a part-time job so you can play music to.

What is next milestone you want to reach with your music?

RIC: Haven't really thought about that, we’re now releasing our first full length Album in May/June. Then it's all about having fun,
We plan to give the world a real CIRKUS performance and see where this road will take us.

If people want to pick up the albums or get more info about the band where should they go?

RIC: Click on to www.cirkusmusic.se or www.myspace.com/cirkusmusic for info. The new cd will be released through NIGHTMARE DISTRIBUTION and available everywhere in the world so look out for that and our back catalogue you can check out our websites for more info where to buy them rocking tunes.
Also we're at this moment in the process of building a web-shop on our www.cirkusmusic.se webpage
So stay tuned.
Its been a pleasure chatting as we say in the CIRKUS
