Interview questions
How did you get your start in music?
We all met through Rutgers University. Peter Lloyd was asking around for people
who were into metal and wanted to start a band and put a post on facebook. A
mutual friend saw it and told me (Peter Brown) to try out so we met up and
jammed on some different ideas. We kept working on ideas and met a few people to
put a band together. When we were looking for a singer, both Pete and I put
posts on facebook looking for someone who could scream. Greg saw the post and
said he wanted to try out and made it no problem. Matty was one of Peter Lloyd's
old roommates and we knew he was a ridiculous drummer, but was also in a lot of
projects at once. About a year after we started jamming and recording songs we
needed a drummer and Matty said he wanted in. After our first practice we were
blown away and two years later, here we are.
who are your biggest musical influences
Pete and Greg are really into older thrash and death metal bands like
Pestilence, King Diamond/Merciful Fate, Master...while I'm more into the newer
thrash/death bands like Arsis and Gojira, and Matty is all over the place with
like Isis and Neurosis. But there's a handful of bands that we all grew up
loving, like the Gothenburg metal scene, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, At The
Gates...and bands like Cynic, Nevermore and Death.
What is your biggest inspiration when creating music?
I'd have to say our friend Mark. We started out kinda sounding more like a power
metal band and one day Mark told us that we sounded awesome if only we didn't
"play that fantasy metal bullshit". So ever since whenever I write a riff I
think to myself "how can this be more badass". So Mark, thanks for helping our
sound!
Could you give us the details of your current project.
Right now we're gearing up to start recording our debut full length album with
producer Ryan Jones(ANS, Seasick, Wetnurse). We have 10 songs ready for the
album.
What is the next goal you would like to achieve with your
music?
Our next goal is to sign with a label. We're setting up a US national tour for
summer 2010 and all the knowledge and support from a label would really help us.
final four
When the zombies take over the world where will you be?
Can't give away our hideout. If you hear King Diamond playing, you're close.
Jedi, Ninja, vampire, were-wolf, pirate, fairy or Spartan?
Jedi easily.
What one piece of art, be it music, book, film or picture,
do you think people must experience before they die?
Seeing Gojira live, reading A Brave New World, a French-Fry Humus Wrap from
Ta-Ta's Pizza
Give one fact that most people would not believe about
you?
We received an 8/10 in Ultimate-Guitar.com's "Monstrously Metal and Unsigned"
article. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/summaries/monstrously_metal_and_unsigned.html
