past material: various demos and eps.
current project: we are currently in the process of writing a multitude of new songs
places where music is available for purchases places where music is available for purchases: at all shows.

How did you get your start in music?
as a band we got started in music in 2006. i had been playing drums for a few years and Ryan had just started guitar. we asked Kyle to sing and we went through a couple other people before we ended up with a solid four piece lineup. our bassist quit a year or so later so we added a guitarist and a tenor sax and didn't play with a new bassist for about six months. then we got a new tenor sax player and a little bit later we got a bari sax. in the past 2 years the lineup has changed drastically from a simple punk rock 4 piece to a 7 piece group.

who are your biggest musical influences
currently my biggest influences would include: duke Ellington, refused, the blood brothers, small brown bike, maps and atlases, the mad conductor, the unicorns, modest mouse, and Charles Mingus. I can't speak for the rest of the band but they share some of my influences as well as similar bands.

What is your biggest inspiration when creating music?
I don't think we have a biggest inspiration when creating music really. when we're writing and playing shows we're only playing because it's fun and it's what we do. I wouldn't say we aren't playing for anybody but the people who have supported us are definitely an inspiration.

Could you give us the details of your current project.

our current project is fairly open ended. we released a new ep last summer called ragefest in minor. last month we did a big promo shoot. right now we are writing a lot of new songs, hopefully to be demoed this winter time. we are also in the process of planning a small summer tour for 2010.

final four

When the zombies take over the world where will you be?
well, zombies won't take over the world. the world is going to end in 2012. we are currently building a pirate ship so we can plunder the nations after the Armageddon has arrived.

Jedi, Ninja, vampire, were-wolf, pirate, fairy or Spartan?
pirate.

What one piece of art, be it music, book, film or picture, do you think people must experience before they die?
oh god. can i choose one music, one book and one flim?
here it goes:
music - the shape of punk to come. that album changed me in so many ways. it taught me about the limits of music, and the essays and manifestos that permeate the album made me question my way of life. everybody needs to hear that album.
book - i think catch-22. enough said.
film - requiem for a dream. enough said.

Give one fact that most people would not believe about you?

the members of silent distortion range from ages 15 to 20.
